Be a doggy blood donor and save lives

Calling our lovely friends!
We’re a proud supporter of charity Pet Blood Bank UK (PBB), which is a not for profit organisation that provides lifesaving blood products to dogs throughout the UK.

We are working with PBB to host a blood donation session at the practice in the near future.  To run a successful session, we need doggy blood donors

To donate your dog needs to be:

Fit and healthy

Between one and eight years old

Weigh more than 25kg

Have a good temperament

Have never travelled abroad

Vaccinated

Not on any medication

We fully appreciate that making the decision to allow your dog to give blood is something that takes time and careful consideration. Please find a link to the PBB website which explains who they are, what they do and what happens at a blood donation session. If you could let us know if we can pass on your details to PBB so they can contact you to discuss our session in more detail and answer any questions you may have. PBB has asked us to assure you that by agreeing to talk to them does not mean you are under any obligation to register your dog as a donor.

If you are interested in finding out more about the charity and to watch a small video clip of a dog giving blood, please visit their website www.petbloodbankuk.org and go to “what happens at a blood collection day”.
By donating a unit of blood, your dog is truly giving the gift of life to others and each time your dog gives blood it can help save the lives of up to four dogs.
If you are interested in your pet becoming a donor, please contact the practice by emailing kate@arkhousevets.co.uk, call 01525 373329 or call PBB on 01509 232222.

Many thanks for your support and if you know anyone else who may like their dog to get involved, please ask them to contact us or to visit PBB’s website.

We can save lives!
